Campaign Wins
Real change happens block by block, tree by tree, and neighbor by neighbor.
Since launching during Earth Month last year, the Cool the City coalition has been working alongside Richmond residents to expand tree canopy, build community knowledge, and create new opportunities for green careers. Together, we’ve already begun to make a measurable difference:
1,300+ trees and shrubs planted in neighborhoods experiencing high levels of urban heat
880+ community members engaged through education, outreach, and volunteer events
46 graduates of agroforestry workforce development programs
5 new green jobs created in Richmond
The stories below highlight some of the many ways this work is taking root across the city.
