Join the City of Richmond's Parks & Rec and our community partners for tree care, litter pickup, and beautification at Alice Fitz Playground in the Blackwell area.
When?
Friday, September 18, from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.
Where?
Alice Fitz Playground, 1301 Perry Street, Richmond, 23224.
Volunteer duties?
Volunteers will assist Parks & Rec staff with tasks such as weeding, spreading mulch, and picking up litter.
No prior experience or special skills necessary, though some lifting (max. 50lbs), kneeling, bending, stooping, digging, hauling, pushing, pulling, and yanking, walking long distances across uneven grassy lawns, and possibly working on sloped terrain will be required. All activities will be located within the park next to a popular playground, so please be prepared to interact with park visitors.
What should I bring?
Please wear comfortable clothes that can get muddy and closed-toe shoes. Please bring a refillable water bottle and a snack. You may also want to bring sunscreen and bug repellent. We'll provide tools and gloves, but feel free to bring your own equipment if you prefer. Accompanied and supervised children are allowed (with a signed waiver), but please no pets!
