Join the City of Richmond's Parks & Rec, Friends of Jefferson Park, and Befriend for some community tree care! We will be maintaining recently planted trees in Jefferson Park, located in the Union Hill / Church Hill neighborhoods. Not only will these trees help beautify the area and create habitat for birds and other local wildlife, but once they reach maturity, they will create shade and cool temperatures in an area frequented by pedestrians and park visitors.  

When?

Wednesday, August 5, from 6 - 8 p.m.

Where?

Jefferson Park, 1921 Princess Anne Avenue, Richmond 23222.

Volunteer duties?

Volunteers will be assisting staff from Parks & Rec in some general tree care and landscaping. Duties will include hand weeding, mulching, and litter pickup. 

What should I bring?

Please wear comfortable clothes that can get muddy and closed-toe shoes. Please bring a refillable water bottle and a snack. You may also want to bring sunscreen and bug repellent. Tools and gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own equipment if you prefer. Accompanied and supervised children are allowed (with a signed waiver), but please no pets!
